General information

Visitors from countries in the sub-region do not need visas. A tourist visa is required for visitors from the USA, Europe and elsewhere and can be obtained from Sierra Leone embassies and consular offices. European visitors can also obtain visas at the airport on arrival, but may find that airlines are reluctant to allow them to travel on this basis.

Inoculation against yellow fever is required. Sierra Leone is an area in which malaria exists and visitors should consult their doctors over the use of a suitable prophylactic. There is a doctor and hospital in Bonthe town.

The local currency is the Leone (cLe3,800 = $1). Dollars or sterling can be changed at Lungi airport or at the camp.

My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.
